LARGE TITANIUM VICEROY Taller than practical Stronger than safe Never bested Never tested On whom all our hope is invested Stronger than any force Or say the scientists say It will save the day In an unknown way At least that’s what we quietly pray Meanwhile it just lies around Covered in vines Theoretically still Online Taller than practical With bombs too big to deploy With one fall he’d crush us all Controlled by an unskilled boy He’s the planet’s best defense for whatever we’re against We will save the day in an unknown way Never bested never tested Large Titanium Viceroy

A ROBOT’S JUST A TOOL A robot may be strong But a robot’s just a tool Like a wrench, it does a job ‘Though we don’t buy that as a rule The robots in our dreams Have coil arms stretched from claws to chrome From the factory they march right To the workplace to the home Since the first monotone was spoken The malfunction mold’s been broken As we lurch toward a dream With a nightmare color scheme A tool chest full of wrenches Humanity it clenches As cautioned without fail In ever cautionary tale You mustn’t trust the rust inside the man-made heart. A robot may be strong But a robot’s just a tool When it’s put together wrong The spine provides a balance To the chassis and the frame And it serves as a connector To the outlets in the brain The spring that’s like a heart Must be wound tightly to impart Motion where connected To the moving parts directed By the robot’s inner needs And robot’s inner dreams That run along the spine From the outlets in the mind To the man-made heart And when you see what I’ve done You’ll agree And when you see what I’ve built You’ll thank me And when you see what it does You might scream It’s necessary because It’s always been man’s dream The spring that’s like a heart Must be wound tightly to impart Motion where connected To the moving parts directed That run along the spine From the outlets in the mind To the man-made heart And when you see what I’ve done You’ll agree And when you see what I’ve built You’ll thank me When you see what it does You might scream It’s necessary because It’s always been my And the rest of mankind’s dream.

WHAT ABOUT THE ROBOTS?

Butcher paper Smeared with poster paint Wooden handles Bound to the back by tape Angry mottoes Clutched by an angry mob By the handles Thrust to the sky above They’re drowning out the governor’s inaugural address With their well-rehearsed chanting on the capitol steps What about what about what about the robots? What about what about what about the robots?
R O B O T spells robot What about what about what about the robots?
News reporters Swarm to the shouts of rage What’s the story? Spill while the crowd’s engaged
Their leader’s just about to speak a twelve year old page Points and all look as a van pulls up to the stage From its sliding side door climb New conflicting protest signs
We’re in favor of ice cream
First demonstrators turn their megaphones to nine What about what about what about the robots? We’re in favor of ice cream Who will win this fight for love? Riot troops pounce from above Violence bleeds from billy clubs Shut up sit down we’re sick of your opinions pal We’re in favor of ice cream What about what about what about…? High above a zeppelin glides A pair of newlyweds inside She gestures with her bride bouquet Everyone looks up and waves What about what about what about the robots? We’re in favor of ice cream Shut up sit down we’re sick of your opinions pal Get off my steps my beautiful steps, get off my steps my beautiful steps Demonstrator shoves a watcher trips a news reporter kicks a trooper clubs a demonstrator Governor is bitten by his page

I’VE GOT THE URGE I’ve got the urge To go into the tool shed Build the biggest dancing robot That the neighborhood has seen
Middle of the culdesac Watch that mother sway
To the thump of his heartbeat Pumping through him gasoline Cranking the wrench Slamming the hammer Giant dancing robot gonna put on a show One thousand tons Bucket of glue Strength of a beast And a staple or two And a great big smile The neighborhood will be jealous Jealous of my robot Its monotonous two-step Shakes the rooftops off and on Middle of the powerlines Watch that mother spark The neighborhood is toppled But my robot dances on Cranking the wrench Slamming the hammer Giant dancing robot gonna put on a show Covered with spikes Friend to all children Wind him up and watch him go Head spinning round Shooting his fingers off He was built to go out of control Can’t shut him down Nothing can turn him off Fueled by the funk in his silicon soul Fire department Called to the rescue But there’s no way to shut the thing down Dancing grows faster Music grows louder Oil starts shooting out of his mouth And I’m Cranking the wrench Slamming the hammer Giant dancing robot gonna put on a show Covered with spikes Friend to all children Wind him up and watch him go

about

"The first construction paper robots created by The Crazy Boy Floyds (designed in the German tradition - to go out of control) attempted to take over the world in the year 1992. They failed, of course, but they inspired The Crazy Boy Floyds musical fascination with robots that continues to this very day - on this very album."
